College Planning

Students and parents have much to think about and discuss when beginning the college search process! Central High School has long been a member of the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), and its southern affiliate, the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC). Both of these organizations have wonderful resources for students and parents who are thinking about the college search process. We suggest that you start by looking at NACAC (link below), especially: 1) what students and parents can do during each year of high school; 2) the section on college rankings and some myths surrounding them; 3)  college financial aid, and scams that sometimes go along with this process; and 4) the other NACAC Resources.

APPLYING FOR COLLEGES AND SCHOLARSHIPS – What seniors and parents can do:

Begin exploring scholarship sites early, and make note which scholarships that you might be eligible for.  Also pay attention to qualifications, deadlines, and documentation that you will need to provide.  Research colleges and their programs to determine which college visits you would like to attend at school, and plan college visits to minimize loss of class time.  Again, see your counselor or the information contained on these pages to assist you.
